[On day one, Mia fights just as hard as any other resident of house sixteen, sure in her heart that they are all being taken for some kind of punishment, for retribution. She doesn't know where that idea comes from, but it lives a life of luxury in the dark corners of her mind. Injured and disoriented upon arrival to the moon, she helps Katara for a while before doing what she can to find and assist her housemates, and her friends. This is the moon. There was a draft here, one she remembers very well and would prefer not to mentally revisit if she can help it. Other people surely feel the same, and maybe she can help them instead.

On day two her only venture out of her villa in the daylight hours is to the pool. The absence of her power is absolutely flooring and awful. That night, though, a friend or two lures her to the casino and its allure of all manner of games of chance. Not a hearty gambler, but familiar with the idea, she'll win a respectable pile of tokens by the end of the evening, and offer to give some to almost anyone who looks like they need them.

Days three and four see her exploring the parks; though her stops in Bubble Land and Junior Land are brief, it gets her out of the villa and away from any tension building around Loki's presence combined with the visible presence of his and Rogue's relationship; on the afternoon of the third day she seeks out Billy and Teddy specifically, to bring them something. And check up on them. Leaving Luceti didn't mean leaving their problems behind. The fourth day takes her to Thrill Land first, for a very significant amount of time. Though she departs that morning by herself, anyone else visiting that park should be able to spot her blue hair waiting in a line somewhere. A timid line, for a thrill ride park. Get her to something bigger and better.

After an encounter with Halloween Land's zombies, though, she keeps closer to "home" for the remainder of their moon vacation - home, and back to the casino. There are all these rumors, and she's off to investigate first; later, on one of the latter two days, she enters the back room to test her luck with something valuable.]

[Mia has been through a lot recently. The invasion wasn't so terrible, but its aftermath and the information surrounding it dealt a blow she still hasn't been able to face properly. Then, some of her dearest people went on a mission that continues to tear them apart inside - and may do a similar thing to all of them in due time, depending on what happens as a result. Then she became, briefly, herself but a few years younger, which might sound like a reprieve but was really just a way of delaying the inevitable backlash. Mia knows better than to think that that might be the 'punishment' coming to them after aiding in the implementation of a shift explosive.

In all that time, the way she interacts with people shifted, too. She is as friendly and welcoming as ever, but in some places more...distracted-seeming, perhaps, or carrying an air of professional civility instead of closeness. If anything, her tenure as pre-adventure Mia only reinforced her ability to stand at that distance.

Things haven't much calmed down, but she can't think of a time better than the present to take care of some things she's put off since the invasion happened. Shuffling them all around her work schedule means it happens at odd hours, but that's just how things have to be. She seeks out specific friends of hers, and stops by the plaza clinic to see who might be around. It isn't her usual routine, but she also goes to the cafe - though hardly a coffee drinker - for a change of pace. The gallery too.

Sometime in the afternoon, she finds a quiet corner to attempt to send a filtered message to Luceti's newest in-world resident, without knowing exactly how:]

Could we speak about a few things in person?

[It might work, it might not.

No matter how that turns out, as night falls she'll skip training, opting to visit the beach instead. To walk along the water with her bare feet in the sand and...hope that helps, somehow.]

[[ooc: Building walls with lego-bricks made of words, around here. Go nuts! Just not totally nuts.]]
frost_jewel: (splash)
[In the midst of all the comings and goings, even the especially sad ones, Luceti has two supposed-to-be-peaceful events coming in the very near future. Those are Mia's favorite sort: peaceful. Especially when she has the encroaching sense of something important making its way down the line.

So in between working at the 'dome clinic in the morning, stopping by the plaza clinic for a while in the afternoon, and dying a slow death training with her housemates in the evening, plus lunch with Teddy if he gets her message and responds in time - it was his idea, but she had a tighter schedule - she runs a few errands for Pilouette. The New Feather party was not her idea, but she was the one who brought it to everyone else's attention this time.

And while she goes, she has an eye out for any New Feathers that might look a bit lost. Or hungry. The Malnosso showed no prejudice about leaving people stranded in the most ridiculous places, and Mia likes to help out when the opportunity comes up.

When she finally gets home that night, she's pretty tired, but it is the kind of tired that keeps her mind awake while her body wants only sleep. So, armed with tea and a cookie in a living room chair, she gives her journal its first real look-over of the day. Tucked between the front two pages is an envelope.]

Do you intend to write letters to those you might leave behind?
frost_jewel: (Default)

Sheena gets the distinct feeling this is all just temporary insanity. So she'll be at work, at the tea shop. Or maybe sparring down at the barracks. Decidedly unruffled, is this ninja - but maybe that's because she's only seen so many people thus far.

Nephry appears at first to be looking for someone amidst the crowd; whether or not she finds that person, she'll be home, or out shopping, or taking shifts at the Welcome Center during the chaos. There's also a meeting she has to attend on Sunday, assuming it still happens.

Mia goes to work at the battledome clinic and hopes it doesn't become overrun; she trains with the X-men without thinking too hard about the very real-seeming people she's seen out there so far. You can also find her taking a walk just about anywhere easy-access.

Luke can't believe his eyes and he will be trying to solve this intense puzzle full of people. Expect a few questions.

Raven has no clue what is happening and it freaks her out. She'll be in the smithy keeping to herself, other than dinner when she goes to Seventh Heaven.

Just name your poison in the subject line! If you'd like a different location than any of the usual ones above, that is cool too.

[There's a chill in the air and a smile on Mia's face as she gets herself ready for the day. For once, she isn't headed straight to work at the crack of wintry dawn; instead, she bundles up and puts a set of skates into her shoulder bag. Before she ducks out the door, she flips her journal open to leave the world a message.]

As Captain Sparrow has so generously provided a skating area in the village to use, I will be there this afternoon if anyone would like to learn how to skate. The weather is perfect for it today. [There's a break in the clouds - for a while - and a peek at the sun they haven't seen in days.] It's only a little tricky to learn, but I'm sure anyone can get the hang of it with a little practice.

[And off she goes! The morning is for Caius and Seto - one after the other - since she did promise them individually and neither is quite the type to learn while others are watching.]

[[ooc: This is set on the 18th, before the truly heavy snow sets in for the event!]]

[On the border between afternoon and evening of the 31st, the draft ends for Mia. For a while, all she can do is look around at the village, standing still near where they all arrive. Then she takes what remains of her notes to the battledome. To turn them over to...well, whoever is there to give them to. She doesn't want to talk, at least not for very long.

Then she goes home, House 16, and checks on her housemates before taking what is perhaps the longest shower in her entire life. The water is freezing by the time she's done, and she doesn't care. The next morning, whoever wakes first will find the coffee is ready and there is no Mercury Adept in sight.

She's out for a walk. It's not a long one: back to the battledome, to check on people. Any people, but especially those she knows well. If there are questions she has to answer - and she doubts very much there won't be questions - then she will, as polite and quiet as she ever is. When she's through there, she'll head for nearby houses and apartments, without going too far. She knows her limits and is waiting to meet up with them.

That autopilot carries her until midafternoon. What follows isn't exactly a crash. It's a slow spiral, one that finds her walking back to the house at a glacial pace, as though she might find somewhere to hide instead. But she can't. Instead she huddles into a chair in the living room, finally opening the journal to write something.]

Thank you to everyone who was there to help us. [She doesn't feel the need to specify where. The next several things she tries are crossed out, until:] I'm sorry we couldn't do more, sooner.

[[ooc: Whew look at all that action! She's mostly bouncing from house to battledome, and if you want to run into her while she's walking or standing and staring off into space, that's great too!]]

[It’s been a long few days since the Kin’corrans went “home”; Mia doesn’t remember most of them. Since the 31st she’s been, for the most part, sound asleep in the battledome clinic, trying to recover from…well, everything. Dealing with the fire didn’t help, leaving her spent and dehydrated and coughing. The time she’s spent awake, though, convinced her that things in the village were getting back to normal.

So her first mission of the day, after waking and sorting herself out, is to find something to do that will alleviate this boredom and, just perhaps, help make her case for just going home to lie about there instead.]

I know it has been very difficult and busy in the village just recently. Given the date, it will only stay busy. If it is at all possible, though, I would ask a small favor: would anyone be willing to bring a few books from the library to the battle dome clinic? I promise to return them at the first opportunity. …Once I’m done with them, that is.

While I am thinking about it…well, I would not mind a little company either. I want to hear that everyone is all right.

[Missing out on more than a day always leaves her too disoriented for her liking.]

[[ooc: We interrupt the delicious intro train to bring you If you work in the clinic and would like to have that argument about going home, step right up! She's a patient woman.]]

This information is especially important for those of you who have been called to join in their war:

In previous drafts we have been provided with portable "scanning" devices that allow the Third Party adversaries to be incapacitated and removed from the fight without killing them. They were fairly simple to use, but have a limited number of "scans" per use: twenty, according to the draft organizer. The last time I used one, we were able to regain those "scans" by taking the machines back to our base area. Something similar may well be available here.

...It's an alternative to killing. [When she reads this through aloud, here is where she drops the polite announcement tone and opts for something more serious.] For times when that is even a chance of possible. I know it seems silly to ask for mercy in a war...

[There isn't really anything else to say. She just stops writing, and stops reading.

Anyone looking for her in person can find her in her usual clinicky haunts. She'll go home earlier than usual Sunday night, though. Best to be rested.]

Hello. If anyone is interested in attending, there will be a new set of combat medicine classes in the battledome starting in the middle of this month. They are intensive and focused, but you really do learn a lot - and it is important to know, especially when we are drafted or asked to take up missions. Even some of the "experiments" are better handled with this knowledge.

If you took part last time, you are welcome to do it again, but please leave some open spots for new students. You may sign up at the battledome, or you can just tell me, here. I would be happy to answer any questions.

[And, as always, if you want to find her in person? Look no further than the clinics or a quiet spot in the library with a book - because it's raining today.]

[Mia is moving houses today! Well, apartment-to-house. After being invited to live with Rogue, Kurt, and their friends, the prospect of not being so lonely at the end of the day sounded wonderful. Of course she said yes.

She spent the past day or two packing up - she doesn't have much - and now will carry boxes from her apartment to the house. It's slow going but she doesn't mind the work; besides, Rogue implied that her new roommates would help out!

As she carries a particularly heavy box along the road, there's a flash of blue, and something that leaves a visible blue streak zooms away from her, off into the village. She can't exactly drop the box and chase after him...but oh, does she want to. The minute she reaches the house she opens her journal and starts writing.]

[Because Serac will be in your house, wreaking your havoc. Enjoy that! He's a fast little guy, and the size that can stand in your palm, and will face a challenge. With fire ice.]

Amiti has gone back to Weyard. I thought his friends would like to know.

[It's luck or fate - given who she is, probably some of both - that she went to visit him yesterday. And no one was there, at all. He did have people he knew well here; at least, she thought so. Telling them is the least she can do.

Around her usual haunts today, especially either clinic, she has her brisk and professional face on more than people might expect, if they haven't heard the news.

Alone here, the only person from her world. Luceti is full of people; why does she feel as though it echoes now?]

[Mia's enthusiasm is simple and direct.]

It's snowing!

[something she hasn't seen since that brief detour to the southern tip of the world. It makes her miss home like nothing else. That won't stop her from throwing on her heavier cloak and standing outside in the light snowfall, hands extended as if to catch the flakes.]

It's really snowing! I wonder if it will stay.

[The Moon is coming so much closer, is it?

Mia doesn't care.

She's wearing her Assassin's Mask and going on a crazy Nerf-and-Supersoaker rampage. You will be soaked. With water from her epic yellow and orange plastic gun, or her emergency mini pistol. Which she happens to be able to refill at will.

Or you will be fired upon by one of those suction-cup-dart kind of Nerfs. And these suction cups actually stick - especially to masks!
Beware!]

[Once upon a time, there was a young couple who desperately wanted a child. They wished and prayed, vowing to love even a child no bigger than the father's thumb.

That child was not Mia.

Mia, who found herself kidnapped from her room this morning by a frog before she'd even had the chance to grow accustomed to being only four or five inches tall. Other forest creatures keep wanting to do the same. It seems they all think she'd make a wonderful bride.

Needless to say, Mia is rather indignant about all this, and about how much time it will take such short legs to make it back to her house.

Of course, if she could find a proper husband...maybe one that flies...]

If you don't mind, I would like to hear about the holidays you celebrate in different worlds, or even different places in the same world.

[this is inspired by a conversation she had with Storm the other day]

In Imil, it is traditional to do something for the longest night of the winter. It is not a large celebration - Imil is, I have learned, a small village compared to the rest of the world - but on that night we stay awake until the sun finally rises. Once it is light, we celebrate with a meal.

[how can she expect to receive information without sharing something in return?]

[Above all, Mia feels the need to keep busy. In the morning, she's at the grocery store to do a little replenishing for their communal kitchen.

Then lunch, outside in the plaza. Because she knows it's getting colder and this won't happen so often anymore.

After leaving Piers a note to this effect, her afternoon will be spent helping out in the battledome clinic, and learning about some of those electronic things if she can.]
frost_jewel: (shine)
I have a small request. Is there anyone available to show me more of how the training space in the dome works? I realize that people may be busy, with so many new arrivals all at once like this. This is just if you happen to have the time.

[Most of her day is spent checking in on the people she knows, particularly those she encountered during the most recent draft. It may have been some time since then, but it still feels recent. Around dinner time, she will visit the clothing shop, then the library, before stopping by the item shop to see if anything from her world has dropped in.

She likes to keep busy.

Later at night, after the sun has started to go down, she'll be behind the barracks, trying - mostly in vain - to aim the ice spires that are part of Ice Horn and Ice Missile with some kind of real precision.]
frost_jewel: (angel)
I have read about the spirits of this world, and there are spirits of a different sort in my own. I would like to hear about the spirits from other worlds, if anyone is willing to share. What are they like? Are there really worlds without them?

[anyone who sees Mia out and about today - only in the morning - will notice a distinct tiredness and heaviness to her step and movements. She's not feeling entirely up to par, which accounts for her going 'home' to rest after a quick few errands in the morning. The written entry comes later, sometime in the early afternoon.]
