[It’s been a long few days since the Kin’corrans went “home”; Mia doesn’t remember most of them. Since the 31st she’s been, for the most part, sound asleep in the battledome clinic, trying to recover from…well, everything. Dealing with the fire didn’t help, leaving her spent and dehydrated and coughing. The time she’s spent awake, though, convinced her that things in the village were getting back to normal.

So her first mission of the day, after waking and sorting herself out, is to find something to do that will alleviate this boredom and, just perhaps, help make her case for just going home to lie about there instead.]

I know it has been very difficult and busy in the village just recently. Given the date, it will only stay busy. If it is at all possible, though, I would ask a small favor: would anyone be willing to bring a few books from the library to the battle dome clinic? I promise to return them at the first opportunity. …Once I’m done with them, that is.

While I am thinking about it…well, I would not mind a little company either. I want to hear that everyone is all right.

What room did you say you were in?

[First, he'll get the room number. Then, in an embarrassed voice,] I am not working right now, you understand.

[He feels silly for managing to get confused over something like this. So at least she's not alone in feeling a little embarrassed. Tsuzuki battles this by finding the right door. He knocks, gently.]

I guess healers can get sick and hurt, too.

[After telling him to come in, Mia offers a sheepish smile.]

Of course we can. We're hardly invulnerable. Though sometimes I think we all wish we were.

Don't we all. It's good to be reminded of how patients feel sometimes, though.

[He lifts the pie up for her approval, grinning.] Surprise!

Oh my, you really did bring a whole pie. I do not have anything to cut it with, but I can give you directions to the little kitchen.

[Don't worry, this is approval.]

[Yay, approval!] I think I remember where it is! I worked here for a week or so, ages ago.

Do you want a big piece or a small?

Small, please. [Other concerned visitors have brought food and she doesn't want to sit here and stuff herself.]

[He comes back a little later, with a medium size for her and a big one for him. Tsuzuki is terrible at cutting small slices.]

The kitchen's different from how I remember it. Much cozier.

Too cozy, if we all decide to be hungry at once.

[It's just a joke. She accepts her piece of pie with a smile.]

[Coming here and seeing the clinic again, he suddenly misses going to work. It makes no sense to him, since he doesn't usually like hospital. But in theory, helping people, making them healthier, what's not to like about a job like that?]

Have you met the new baker over at the bakery? I wish I knew where he got his recipes from.

No. I did not know the previous one very well either. [Kurt gave her a craving for burgers and soda, but not sweets. She even takes the pie slowly; it's likely she won't finish it.]

Have you asked him?

That's a good idea. I really should've.

[But now she's given him Ideas to ponder while he finishes his pie. There are so many cool recipes to try. *-* His housemates will doubtlessly ban him from the kitchen again.

Tsuzuki notices that she's eating the pie slowly. It makes him feel a bit guilty for wolfing down his own.]

You don't like it?

Oh, no, I do! I just don't want to rush.

Do you get a stomach ache if you eat too fast?

[Concerned!face.]

Oh, no, nothing like that. I like to go slowly and enjoy something sweet like this, that's all.

Oh, I understand.

[Nom. He scrapes his plate.]

I think I just eat it too fast because I usually don't have time to savor it.

You have plenty of time now! Or are you in a hurry?

No. I think it's just old habit by now. I'm not in a hurry.

I have a friend or two at home who also eat like that. Like it might disappear if they look the other way for more than a second.

[That sounds very much like him. To the point where he's close to feeling a bit self-conscious.] How come they eat like that?

Hmm. [This grin lights up Mia's entire face.] Well, I think it's because they are boys.

[A laugh escapes before he can stop it. It hadn't even crossed his mind.]

I think you may have a point there.
