[It’s been a long few days since the Kin’corrans went “home”; Mia doesn’t remember most of them. Since the 31st she’s been, for the most part, sound asleep in the battledome clinic, trying to recover from…well, everything. Dealing with the fire didn’t help, leaving her spent and dehydrated and coughing. The time she’s spent awake, though, convinced her that things in the village were getting back to normal.

So her first mission of the day, after waking and sorting herself out, is to find something to do that will alleviate this boredom and, just perhaps, help make her case for just going home to lie about there instead.]

I know it has been very difficult and busy in the village just recently. Given the date, it will only stay busy. If it is at all possible, though, I would ask a small favor: would anyone be willing to bring a few books from the library to the battle dome clinic? I promise to return them at the first opportunity. …Once I’m done with them, that is.

While I am thinking about it…well, I would not mind a little company either. I want to hear that everyone is all right.

[Missing out on more than a day always leaves her too disoriented for her liking.]

Okay, I'll see you soon! [She closes the journal.

...It'll probably be later in the day by the time Grune remembers she had promised to visit Mia, actually, but she will show up eventually. Knock knock!]

[No answer, Grune. Mia's well and truly asleep this time, one hand limp on an open book in her lap.]

[Grune pushes open the door and peeks her head through the doorway. Seeing that Mia is asleep, she walks forward as quietly as she can. She'll just leave her snack and come back another time.]

[Will she not be tempted by the slice or two of apple pie left on a table in the room? There's even a little note that says "for visitors"!]

[My, it seems to be an apple pie sort of day.

Grune stops to consider what's been left out. It does look very good, but she wouldn't want someone else to come along and not be able to have any because she had eaten their slice.

...Maybe she'll have the smallest one.

She sets down her own contribution of, well, apple pie and looks around for a fork.]

[Wait Grune brought a pie too? There are forks nearby, most definitely. Mia did tell Tsuzuki that it had to be shared.

The smell of fresh baked goods might be enough to bring her around in a minute or two.]

[Yup, she was thinking about it upthread. Oh well. XD These things happen.

Grune picks up a fork and a piece of pie and sits down to eat. Hmm.... She should bring Mia a few flowers later on. They would make the room nice and cheerful.]

[Her garden has already been invaded (or will be, by then) by a bubbly friend with scissors and a good heart. More flowers will of course be appreciated.

For now, dazed blue eyes open and start to focus on the visitor eating pie in the nearby chair. Mia makes a sound, too, like the tail end of a question she didn't actually ask.]

[Grune looks up from her plate and smiles warmly.]

Good morning, Mia! How are you feeling?

[Never mind the actual time of day--"good morning" is what you say to people when they first wake up in her books.]

[Grune. And pie. She had her fair share of that pie earlier.]

Fine, thank you. When did you get here?

Hmm.... I think it was just a little while ago.

[Thankfully she knows Grune well enough to be able to guess at whether that's true. Mia sits up and tries to re-orient herself, rubbing an eye and frowning.]

I hope it hasn't been too long.

[She shakes her head.]

Don't worry. I was happy to keep you company.

No, watching me sleep can't have been very much fun.

[She spots something in the area behind Grune and almost laughs.]

Did you also bring a pie?

[Grune looks down at her own offering, a little puzzled. Why does Mia seem to think it's funny?]

Yes, that's right. We still had a few slices left at home, so I thought they would be nice to eat.

[It's been a bakery sort of day.]

Of course. I'm not hungry right now, but I will have some later.

[She nods.] All right.

Have you had lots of visitors yet?

More than I thought there would be. [It's touching in a lot of ways. They could do with a little less lecture.]

Oh, that's good. It's so nice to have company, isn't it?

Yes, most of the time. Sometimes I do feel like just being alone for a while.

[Uh-oh. Will Grune take that the wrong way?] But not right now! I asked for company because I wanted it, definitely.

[It's a good thing that Mia made that addendum; while Grune hardly would have stressed about intruding, she probably would have tried to leave without it. Whoops.]

Oh, that's good. I can stay as long as you want--or maybe we can find some more friends to visit, too.

I think just one visitor at a time is the best for now. [She's tired as it is, after so many. Imagine if she were to fall asleep in the presence of multiple people!]
