[It’s been a long few days since the Kin’corrans went “home”; Mia doesn’t remember most of them. Since the 31st she’s been, for the most part, sound asleep in the battledome clinic, trying to recover from…well, everything. Dealing with the fire didn’t help, leaving her spent and dehydrated and coughing. The time she’s spent awake, though, convinced her that things in the village were getting back to normal.

So her first mission of the day, after waking and sorting herself out, is to find something to do that will alleviate this boredom and, just perhaps, help make her case for just going home to lie about there instead.]

I know it has been very difficult and busy in the village just recently. Given the date, it will only stay busy. If it is at all possible, though, I would ask a small favor: would anyone be willing to bring a few books from the library to the battle dome clinic? I promise to return them at the first opportunity. …Once I’m done with them, that is.

While I am thinking about it…well, I would not mind a little company either. I want to hear that everyone is all right.

I think if you started reading to me, I would fall asleep again for certain.

Ah--sure! If that's okay. [He doesn't remember ever having pie before but he's seen it at the bakery and it always looks and smells good so... ]

Oh, do you think so?

Yes I do. And I would hate to do that while you were visiting.

Of course it is. There should be plates over there, on that little table. [Sorry she can't serve you a slice herself, Seto.]

Okay! [Gonna stand up now and walk over to said table] Do you want some too?

It's all right. If you need your rest, I wouldn't mind at all if you went to sleep.

No thank you, I've already had a slice. The rest is to share with visitors.

I won't ask you to sit here with nothing but my dreams for company. [She is very obstinate on this point; the combination of feeling sort of vulnerable and being a terrible "hostess" would make the visit a disaster.] You are welcome to read one of these if you want to, though.

Alright. [He cuts a slice for himself, grabs a fork, walks over to the chair and sits back down.] Thank you very much.

Do you still live with Firo? [She hasn't had the time to catch up with him at all and she feels terrible about it. The clinics have just been so busy.]

[The one on the top of the pile is an Indiana Jones adventure that Norma brought over. It looks well-read. Mia offered companionable reading in silence as a solution - in which Grune could read and Mia could gradually fall asleep - but that's hardly fair to either of them. The rest of the books are either novels or plays.]

I was surprised that so many people would offer to bring me books.

[Grune looks up from sorting through the books, rather startled.]

Why would you be surprised?

After everything that just happened to the village, I didn't imagine they would have much time to distract a silly healer.

[The smile would let anyone else onto the half-joke. Will it work with Grune?]

[Grune, unfortunately, doesn't understand humour--especially self-deprecating humour--and so she says very seriously:] Oh, but you're our friend. You're very important to all of us.
