[It’s been a long few days since the Kin’corrans went “home”; Mia doesn’t remember most of them. Since the 31st she’s been, for the most part, sound asleep in the battledome clinic, trying to recover from…well, everything. Dealing with the fire didn’t help, leaving her spent and dehydrated and coughing. The time she’s spent awake, though, convinced her that things in the village were getting back to normal.

So her first mission of the day, after waking and sorting herself out, is to find something to do that will alleviate this boredom and, just perhaps, help make her case for just going home to lie about there instead.]

I know it has been very difficult and busy in the village just recently. Given the date, it will only stay busy. If it is at all possible, though, I would ask a small favor: would anyone be willing to bring a few books from the library to the battle dome clinic? I promise to return them at the first opportunity. …Once I’m done with them, that is.

While I am thinking about it…well, I would not mind a little company either. I want to hear that everyone is all right.

[Missing out on more than a day always leaves her too disoriented for her liking.]

Huh? Oh, right. I wasn't trying to make you sad.

[Talking about home is just nice to do now and then.]

[Norma just snorts and begins to laugh quietly and quickly. Yep, that just seals the deal now. Norma's here to stay until Mia's fast asleep. She's guessing the girl isn't like her - who can fall fast asleep in seconds - but she'll stay for as long as she can.]

Just don't ask me to sing to you and I'll stay for as long as you like.

Hn. [Dismissing it like that is something he would do and still be angry about afterwards.

Too bad he's as stubborn as he is. He shuts the book.]

[Well.

Not much she can do about that, is there? Here are two choices:
- Feel utterly confused about what made him upset enough in a suggestion to move on in the conversation to hang up on her.
- Worry that she has somehow hurt him with any of the other things she said.

She'll do both. Quietly, over here.]

I suppose you could sing if you like to, but I wouldn't ask. [Mia covers another yawn with her hand and shakes her head.] I'm so sorry.

No. I think it's just old habit by now. I'm not in a hurry.

I have a friend or two at home who also eat like that. Like it might disappear if they look the other way for more than a second.

I'm not sure I'd go that far. The people in Luceti tend to be the exception not the rule I think.

Just rest, don't apologize. Jeez... [Norma's not upset, nor does she sound in any way condescending. She's just shaking her head with a friendly, warm little smile. Silly Mimi, rest if you need it, don't apologize for feeling tired.] I'll be right here until you fall asleep, okay? Promise.

Yeah, I found it there a long time ago. It's actually a book from my world...

[He holds it so he can look at the cover, running his fingers across the title.]

Seto. [It would be sort of nice to end her day like this, actually.] If you're worried about the book, you don't need to leave it here, all right? Something so valuable shouldn't be left just anywhere.

A-Ah no it's okay! You'll be the one who has it and I know you'll take good care of it.

[He trusts her enough. She's a very gentle person after all. Besides, it's not like she won't give it back. So he smiles and offers it out to her]

Thank you. [She takes it, gently, setting it in its own place on the table beside her instead of atop the pile of other books.] I promise to be extra careful with it.

[It won't take long. Sitting in bed entertaining people is surprisingly draining. Once she puts her head back down on that pillow, the clock's ticking; in maybe ten minutes, she's out.]

I will! What kinds of books are they?

[Are there any storybooks?]

[ She comes back bearing a small try, laden with a tea pot, two mugs, and whatever sugar she could scrounge up. As she brings the tray over, she glances at those books. ]

What sort of books do you have there, Mia?

[That sounds very much like him. To the point where he's close to feeling a bit self-conscious.] How come they eat like that?

Hmm. [This grin lights up Mia's entire face.] Well, I think it's because they are boys.

Leonhardt brought a story and a play, Adell picked novels, I think, Norma chose an adventure book...and Tsuzuki brought an apple pie instead.

[Which is not a book but was equally delicious.]

There might be some left, if you want a piece. [That tea. By the way. Smells heavenly.]

Most of them are novels; one is a play. I don't think I will have time to read all of them but I will do what I can.

... a pie? [ That wins a small laugh. ] That's nice too. But I'm okay!

[ She sets the tray down wherever she can find room and pours a cup for Mia, handing it to the other girl. ]

You know, I don't think I've ever read a play...

[It takes her a moment to respond; she's too busy sipping the tea with a contented sigh.]

I have never seen one. I've read a few, while living here, though. Some use language that I find hard to follow.

[A laugh escapes before he can stop it. It hadn't even crossed his mind.]

I think you may have a point there.

Thank you. [His smile brightens] I hope you like it just as much as I do.
